Helping people understand “It’s okay not to be okay” is a passion for Shakira as she helps individuals navigate through life’s circumstances. She is committed to helping children and adults recognize, process, and trust their feelings. Personally and professionally, she is an advocate for individuals with disabilities and considers teaching self-advocacy skills one of the most important aspects of counseling.

Shakira earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. Her career has allowed her to work with a vast array of individuals from various background, including children, youth, adults, college students, persons with mental, physical and emotional disabilities, as well as veterans.

In her spare time, Shakira enjoys her family, friends and fur baby. She is a woman of faith with hobbies that include reading, crafting and music.
